# Create New Projects

There are several methods in which users can create Company Owned Projects in StackDX. All users with either Land or Asset Read Roles will be able to create a project where they will be able to view and manage (ie. Add, Remove, Share, etc.) the project contents. See the below methods of creating projects in StackDX.

### 1. Create a project from the Projects Grid

Users can create a project from the Projects Grid. This will create a new empty project where the user will then have to add land file(s) and assets to the project. See [Manage Land Files or Assets in Projects](/projects/company-owned-projects/create-and-manage-projects/manage-land-files-or-assets-in-projects.md) section for more details on managing land files or assets in projects.

### 3. Add a CS Land Project via the nightly data sync

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Projects created from CS Land cannot add/remove Land Files or Assets within StackDX any changes will need to done in the land system.
{% endhint %}

In your **Account** settings ensure that you have your 'Land User ID' entered in order for your projects created in CS Land to be synced in the nightly update.

Only users with 'Client Admin' Role will be able to update user settings. See [Modify User Roles/Settings](/getting-started/manage-stackdx-users/modify-user-roles-settings.md) section for more details on finding your Client Admin User and modifying settings.

### 4. Create a project from StackDX Maps

Users have the ability to create a StackDX Project from a saved layer in StackDX Maps. This will create a new internal project in StackDX that contains all the assets (ie. Wells, Facilities or Pipelines) that exist in both the saved layer and the users StackDX site.

<details open>

Create Project from StackDX Maps

1. In StackDX Maps click the **Settings** icon for a saved asset layer (ie. Wells, Facilities or Pipelines)

The project will be created in your StackDX site containing the assets from your saved asset layer (ie. Wells, Facilities or Pipelines).

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Only assets that exist in both the saved layer and in StackDX will be included in the project.
{% endhint %}

In the Layer Settings there will be a link that will take you directly to the created project in StackDX.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.stackdx.com/projects/company-owned-projects/create-and-manage-projects/create-new-projects.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
